21 Fleet Management Systems Vehicle Tracking The most basic function in all fleet management systems is the vehicle tracking component. This component is usually GPS based, but sometimes it can be based on a Cellular triangulation platform. Once vehicle location, direction and speed are determined from the GPS components, additional tracking capabilities transmit this information to a Fleet Management software application. Methods for data transmission include both terrestrial and satellite. Satellite communications, while more expensive, are critical if vehicle tracking is to work in remote environments without interruption. 28 RSL - Road Speed Limiter (USA) What is the Speed Limiter? Road Speed Limiters were developed to improve safety and environment by controlling the top speed of vehicles without affecting any other aspect of the vehicle s operations. thus reducing serious accidents and pollution. The basic function of the Speed Limiter is to limit the maximum speed of a vehicle to a preset level whilst the throttle (accelerator) pedal is fully depressed, without a noticeable variation in the speed.

A- RSL Road Speed Limiter (fuel control) for mechanical acceleration pedal vehicles, this consists of three basic components: an Electronic Control Module ECM and Fuel control solenoid valve FCV and pressure regulation valve PRV. HOW DOES THE SPEED LIMITER WORK? The electronic control unit (ECU) is connected to the tachograph or speedometer and receives frequency signals when the vehicle is in motion.
